Top Five Trending Music Videos Of The 2012 Holiday Season (Including The Apocalypse)
By Paul Konikowski, CTS-D
How many times have you been to a holiday lunch or Christmas party, when someone mentions a YouTube video you “have to see“? Or maybe you were hosting a party, and someone insists you turn down your perfect playlist of Joshua Kadison songs, just so they could play a song from their phone?
Well, not this year. This year, you will be prepared; here are the top five music videos that everyone will be talking about this month, according to the Mayan calendar, and my crystal ball.
1. Wham Vs. PSY – Last Christmas, Gangnam style – Paolo Monti
Take the most popular YouTube Video of all time (really?), and mash it up with an 80’s song that is normally saved for easy listening radio in December, and you get this beauty:
2. DMX – Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Not normally known for his holiday renditions, rap star DMX dropped a Yule Log shaped bomb on this Christmas classic earlier this month while being interviewed on Power 105.1 in New York, NY:
3. One Direction – Little Things
If you have not heard of this boy band yet, I have bad news: you are officially “old”. The only thing you really need to know for the holiday party is that one of these dream-brats is dating Taylor Swift.
4. Rihanna – Diamonds (Live on SNL)
You may have heard this song on the radio, but did you see @RhiRhi perform on Saturday Night Live last month? She used a green screen chroma-key technique that generated a lot of comment.
5. R.E.M – It’s The End Of The World As We Know It
This song will be #occypying the airwaves for the next ten days. To me, its not The Apocalypse that is scary. What scares me is how many people still know almost every word to this song!
